The Bardo Museum and Roman Mosaics

It’s been said that Tunisia has too many Roman artifacts, too many mosaics. How can this be possible? Well, for one, they kind of try to protect them, but people can pretty much wander all over them at will because there isn’t enough funding to protect them, despite what can only be assumed are large donations from UNESCO. To illustrate the “too many mosaics” theme, I will show you the inside of one of the Roman villa rooms:

Those things piled up in this hallway are 2000 year old mosaics. “Ehhh… just leave in in there. If no one knows we have them we don’t have to build a display.”
